Rare New Guinea Singing Dogs

You have may seen the recent news story about a man who was caught with approximately 80 New Guinea Singing Dogs at his home in Franklin County Pennsylvania. Regarded as the rarest dog breed in the world, the New Guinea Singing Dog (NGSD) is aptly named due to its distinctive howl. Like many people, I'd never even heard of the New Guinea Singing Dog! With pricked ears and bushy tail, the NGSD resembles a fox in appearance and is not recommended as domesticated pet. According to DogBreedInfo.com, the NGSD's complex vocal behavior includes yelps, whines, single-note howls and the ability to vary the pitch of its howl. Check out their concert in the video below. For more detailed information on this nearly extinct breed, see this video on AnimalPlanetTV.
